This standard is not a sealed topic. Read this first if you are also taking one of the standards below.

The most direct links:

A large natural environment (91240): the same "perspectives" concept, applied to a natural topic Both standards use NZQA's printed concept of perspectives — practising "name the group, their view, why they hold it" for a natural environment strengthens the same move here for a development topic. A given environment: concepts and skills (91243): the same case-study-integration discipline Both standards are graded partly on whether named places and figures are WOVEN into the explanation rather than listed — the evidence-integration habit transfers directly. ✓

The big picture in one sentence

Whichever of the three sub-topics (indicators, factors, strategies) is asked, the answer always follows the same chain: name ONE specific thing, explain the mechanism, and back it with a named case study.

Terms that mean something different across the two geography externals

  • "Factor" here means a cause of development difference (natural or cultural); in a natural-environment standard, the equivalent word is usually "element" or "process".
  • "Strategy" here specifically means a government/NGO action to reduce development gaps; the word does not appear in the same sense in a natural-environment context.
