← Summarising the development of a digital outcome
Reading the notation
Same Achieved/in-depth/comprehensive ladder every year — but the exact question wording that gets you there has changed. Learn the CONCEPTS, then answer whatever the current wording actually asks.📖 Terms the schedule grades you on
6 termsCover the right column and check you can say what each one means.
- Requirement
- Something specific and testable your outcome had to do or achieve — you can say afterwards whether it was met.
- Aesthetics / functionality / usability
- The 2025 task's first requirement category — how it looks, what it does, and how easily people can do it.
- Cultural / ethical / sustainability / future-proofing
- The 2025 task's second requirement category — respecting context and people, fairness and harm, environmental/long-term cost, and maintainability.
- Implication
- A consequence your outcome had to address — the older (2022) task asked for two, chosen from legal, future-proofing or end-user.
- Subject matter expert
- A specific real person with relevant knowledge you consulted during development — named, with what they told you and what changed as a result.
- In-depth / comprehensive
- Merit explains WHY a decision was made, with detail and examples. Excellence connects the parts to each other and reflects honestly on what you would change.
Before writing anything
- Confirm the CURRENT year's exact task wording, since the specific groupings have changed between published years — the underlying concepts stay the same.
- Skim for a decision-evaluation part, an implication part, or a word-limit note — these signal the deeper skill sections further down this page.
