← Understanding a computer science concept
Reading the notation
The task template changed from 2024 onward — learn the CURRENT shape, but the underlying Achieved/in-depth/comprehensive ladder has stayed the same.📖 Terms the schedule grades you on

- Given resource
- The 2025 task supplies a diagram/scenario (car AI sensors; a garage door opener) that part (a) must be built around — there is no self-chosen organisation to prepare in the current shape.
- Links to computer science concepts
- Explicitly required in part (a)(ii) — name the actual mechanism (hashing, neural network, encryption) behind a problem, not just describe the symptom.
- Need vs opportunity (part c)
- A "need" answer names a real problem the concept solves; an "opportunity" answer names a new capability it has opened up — both set in a healthcare context in 2025.
- Future-proof vs ethical issues (part d)
- Future-proof: design so a NAMED technology keeps working as conditions change. Ethical issues: name a real tension or harm from that technology — this replaced the old "human factors" pairing.
- In-depth / comprehensive
- Merit explains the IMPACT of the concept in detail. Excellence explains KEY PROBLEMS OR ISSUES, connecting them back to the concept and the resource.
Before writing anything
- Confirm the CURRENT year's exact topics and question wording, since the task shape has already changed once (2022-2023 to 2024-2025) — the underlying skills transfer regardless.
- Skim for a firewall/security question, an AI-evaluation question, or a healthcare need/opportunity part — these signal the deeper skill sections further down this page.
Practice for this standard covers the whole topic — flashcards and quiz.
